FAQ’s

If you are applying for an advertised role you will need to complete an application form which can be found on the job search page and email it, including a statement outlining your experience and suitability to vacancies@lhea.org.uk.

CV applications will only be considered for speculative and ECT candidates in the first instance. Once a candidate has been shortlisted they will be required to complete an application form in accordance with our Safer Recruitment Policy.

All other candidates are required to complete the application form.

We will consider sponsorship of exceptional candidates for visa applications/work permits.

Application deadlines vary. Please make sure you complete your application ahead of the specified closing date so we can ensure your application is considered. Early applications are recommended as they will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

The selection process can vary depending on the role but as a minimum it will involve teaching a class and an interview based on the competencies of the role. A subject related exercise is also common.

You must provide the details of two referees as part of the application process. One of the referees must be your current or most recent employer. The second referee should be your previous employer.

A standard part of our recruitment process is to request references prior to interview. If you do not want your referee(s) to be contacted prior to interview, please make sure you state this in your application.

The selection process may vary depending on the position but is likely to consist of you teaching a lesson (the topic and details of the class will be provided to you in advance). You will also go on a tour of the school site and spend some time with the Head of Department. The day will end with a competency-based interview.
