The Library
Hello,
My name is Ms Khan and I am your School Librarian.
The library is much more than just a place for books! It’s a welcoming space where students can read, study, complete homework, and discover new interests.
Here’s what we offer:
- Visit from published authors, giving students the opportunity to meet writers, ask questions, and be inspired.
- The library is open during break and lunchtime, so students are always welcome to read, study, or simply enjoy a calm space.
- Fun writing completions, throughout the year to encourage creativity.
- Voting competitions, where students choose book for a teacher.
- Reading challenges, Book Bingo, and ‘’How Many Books Can You Read?’’ events with prizes and rewards.
I absolutely love working with students and helping them develop a lifelong love of reading. Whether you’re looking for your next great book, need somewhere to study, or just want a quiet place to relax, the library is here for you.

During opening times, students are able to:
- Read and Discover – Enjoy reading for pleasure, borrow books, explore new authors and genres, and take part in reading activities and book clubs.
- Learn and Achieve – Complete homework, revise, research topics, use digital resources and technology, and develop information and study skills.
- Create and Connect – Work collaboratively on projects, develop creative ideas, participate in library events, and enjoy a welcoming space that supports wellbeing and lifelong learning.
Borrowing Books
All students can borrow a book for up to 2 weeks at a time and have it can be renewed twice.
Regular library lessons take place during students’ English lessons which allow for independent learning, information literacy and the promotion of reading for pleasure.
Fiction Books
We have a selection of fiction books for both our KS3 and KS4 students. All fiction books are organised into genres. There are more than 20 genres in our Library to choose from including:
Adventure, Horror, Science Fiction, Family & Friends, Short Stories, BAME, Sports, Graphic Novels and many more.
Lots of our library books are recommendations from our students and staff so we guarantee that there is a book to suit every pupil in our school!
Non-Fiction Books
A good range of non-fiction books are available for all students to enhance their learning experience as well as support and complement their curriculum.
Books have been organised in the world renown Decimal Dewey system where each subject has a unique Decimal Dewey number including subject specific books, examination preparation textbooks, thesauri, dictionaries, atlases, autobiographies and biographies.
Magazines
In addition to our fiction and non-fiction books, we have a wide selection of magazines including sports, computing, BBC History, The National Geographic, Sci-Fi Now and How It Works.
Careers and Guidance
We have a well resourced and regularly updated careers section with a number of prospectuses for our local and national sixth form providers, colleges and universities.
Application forms and relevant literature for apprenticeships and specialist training are also available.
