Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE)

At Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy, PSHCE is important because:

• Students must be prepared to make informed decisions about their health, wellbeing, relationships, finances, education and future careers.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to:

• Develop students' understanding of healthy relationships, personal safety, wellbeing, equality, diversity and citizenship.
• Equip students with the skills to recognise and manage risk, challenge prejudice, seek support when needed and make responsible decisions.
• Build confidence, resilience, independence and character, enabling students to flourish in education, employment and adult life.

Curriculum Overview

In PSHCE, we deliver the curriculum through:

A Carefully Sequenced Journey of Learning
Our curriculum is structured progressively from Year 7 to Year 11 so that students revisit key concepts at increasing levels of complexity. Students move from understanding themselves and their immediate relationships in Year 7 towards exploring wider issues such as democracy, human rights, safeguarding, exploitation, fertility, independent living and social responsibility in KS4.

Discussion-Based Learning
PSHCE lessons provide safe opportunities for debate, reflection, discussion, scenario analysis and critical thinking. Students are encouraged to explore different viewpoints, challenge misconceptions and develop informed opinions.

Real-Life Contexts
Learning is centred around authentic situations that students may encounter in everyday life, including:
